Little lost kittens è il nuovo album di Vanvera ed è un mini album,
fatto che, a 12 anni di distanza dall’esordio (A wish upon a scar, Here I Stay records 2007) potrebbe dirottare l’attenzione sull’annosa questione “quanto o come?”. Glissiamo.

Little lost kittens lo ha registrato e mixato Andrea Cherchi in arte WAS e lo ha masterizzato Nene Baratto (Movie Star Junkies). Tutto questo nel 2018.

Little lost kittens è composto da sei canzoni più un intro, tutte composte e registrate con una tastierina Casio SA46, su basi di drum machine infiocchettate con loops e samples lo-fi. Il loro sound cerca rifugio e ispirazione in un certo synth pop minimale anni ’80 che tanto mi piacque.

Little lost kittens sta per piccoli gattini sperduti, che è ciò che queste sei canzoni sono. E anche l’intro lo è. Sei canzoni composte in tempi e maniere diversi, che ho voluto riunire sotto questa cappannetta electro .

Intro (Alien keys) E’ un breve strumentale, elaborazione di un loop da Crappy Day (Bandcamp free DLD, 2018). Setta il mood.
Dorothy E’ un brano composto durante il periodo dei live di presentazione di “A wish upon a scar” ; la voce della Dorothy protagonista si incarna in quella di Roberta, compagna di vita e di Pussy Stomp.
Fun of me parte dalla melodia vocale di un pezzo improvvisato nei primi giorni dei Pussy, una cantilena che ha riprovato a imporsi per anni ma … niente.
Vanvera l’ha fatta sua in un brano che parte dall’idea di un tribalismo da videogame “sporcato” con tamburi in loop.
Yokonic è l’unico brano nato in contemporanea all’album, ed è un istigazione all’accettazione di sè, giocando sull’idea di due bimbe immaginarie che volevano essere due icone come Nico e Yoko Ono.
Moon’s Eyes avrebbe dovuto aprire il mio secondo album (working title: Woeful Awful Hoof), e credo sia la seconda canzone che ho mai scritto.
Era una cosetta acustica che trova quì nuova veste in un pulse di basso synth che deve molto ai Cure kafkiani di A reflection (1980).
Death come to my house era la versione originale di Holly Wool da AWUAS. La rivisitazione di uno spiritual partendo solo dalle sue parole. Si ripropone la diatriba-tribale di Fun of me in meno di due minuti dispari e disperati. Hallelu!
Unfamous Last Words era una canzoncina su una corda nella mia cassetta del 1999 The dork side of the moan (perchè no?) che in Little lost kittens torna per cullarsi su uno shuffle di drum machine spezzato dai cori a incrocio di Roberta e Was.


Little lost kittens esce su tape per Moka Produzioni a Marzo 2019 ed avrà in questa veste una bonus track :
Crappy Day brano che voleva essere il Vanvera giocosamente natalizio di fine 2017, uscito in free download su Bandcamp.
